Pinksummer is active in Genova since 2000, presenting the work of international and Italian artists through gallery exhibition projects but also organizing a variety of site specific events, involving different public and private institutions, aiming for contributing to the development of the local cultural environment. Pinksummer represents the following artists: Alis / Filliol, The Icelandic Love Corporation, M. Castillo Deball, P. Dejanoff, S. Galegati, Gruppo A12, K. Jeong-A, G. Ben- Ner, Jorge Peris, T. Putrih, T. Saraceno, B. Sarcevic, S. Silva, G. Starr, C. Viel, L. Vitone, I. Zuffi.
Outside the gallery, pinksummer made happen among the others, Vanessa Beecroft!s performance VB 48, held at Palazzo Ducale (Genova) in 2001 on the occasion of G8 meeting and Pink Rabbit made up in Artesina (CN) by Gelitin in 2004. Together with the local Municipality, a sound performance by Carsten Nicolai and a lecture programme (Ceal Floyer, Georgina Starr, Carsten Nicolai) were organized in Genova. For the 53th Venice Biennale, the gallery produced together with Ivonne Lambert (Paris), the work presented there by Koo Jeong-A and supported the realization of Tomas Saraceno!s installation by finding two Italian sponsors.
Pinksummer exhibitions invitation cards are artist projects themselves. Artists are asked to choose for the card an image, from history of art or from any other source, that in their opinion best represents the work they present at pinksummer. Pinksummer produces editions, conceived exclusively for the gallery in the same format and limited number, that are available at starting price of 50,00 Euro.
Recently, pinksummer promoted a petition to let the political local institution open a call for a professional curator in charge for the programme of the civic contemporary art Museum, that has always been directed by a public employee not specifically knowledgeable about contemporary art.
