It was during the prohibition era in the United States that the Speakeasy bar was born. These bars were a hidden venue at secret location and were renowed for their unique cocktails and illegal spirits. The bars were unmarked by illuminate light or able to be seen through large windows so patrons only learnt of the their location by word of mouth and were only admitted inside with a secret password. Like popular bars today the prohibition era attracted a happy noisy crowd after enjaying a few drinks, but back then it had the risk of attracting the police, so bartenders in an attempt to quiet the crowd would say “Speak easy boys!” hence the term “Speakeasy”. The Vanilla Club today is reminescent of those hidden and secret bars of days gone by, a venue furnished in style hidden from the world above. With a hint of aromatic vanilla in the air and soft subdued lighting why not try our real secret, a showcase of classic cocktails perfectly crafted to the original recipe.

Negli USA del proibizionismo nascevano gli Speakeasy bar, locali segreti dove venivano serviti ottimi cocktail e alcolici illegalmente. Non c’erano insegne luminose né grandi vetrate, erano accuratamente nascosti e vi si poteva accedere solo dopo aver pronunciato la parola d’ordine. Come succede spesso anche oggi la clientela, dopo qualche cocktail di troppo diventava rumorosa e turbolenta rischiando di attirare l’attenzione della polizia, toccava quindi proprio ai bartender reclamare il silenzio: “Speak easy boys!!” da qui il termine “Speakeasy”. Il Vanilla Club è un angolo che sembra uscito dagli anni 30 in perfetto stile. I veri protagonisti sono sicuramente i cocktail realizzati a regola d’arte da sorseggiare chissà.. magari in una saletta esclusiva un po’ buia che profuma di vaniglia….
