The Morando family has been producing wine for five generations in Vignale, a charming hilltop South Piemonte in the heart of Monferrato countryside. Monferrato is one of the most important Italian wine districts. Today the winery is managed by Silvio Morando and his wife Tiziana both enologists and hearth passioned growers.

Next to the old traditional cellar, a new one has improved production matching traditional methods with new technologies as stainless steel vats, a new bottling line and storage facilities.

Morando family aim at quality is very rigorous and especially regarding the care of grapes according to the philosophy that a great wine comes first in vineyard. Then selections of grapes with manual harvesting takes place between September and October in sloping and greatly exposed vineyards.
Soil is composed mostly of clay, sand and stripes of calcareous subsoil, very dry as required by quality harvesting.

Small productions feature passion and love for their territory. Wines range the typical varieties as Barbera the red “king of Monferrato” and one of the nowadays most important products among the italian new outstanding, Grignolino, Bonarda from an ancient local clone and other varieties (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay) that witnesses the great character that this soil confers to later to the wines.

La famille Morando perpétue à Vignale, village typique perché sur sa colline au coeur du Monferrato, une tradition vinicole vieille de cinq générations.
Silvio Morando, oenologue, et sa femme Tiziana gèrent un domaine de 15 hectares. Ils se consacrent à une petite production de vins de qualité issus de cépages traditionnels piémontais ­ Barbera, Grignolino et Bonarda ­ et de nouveaux cépages implantés plus récemmemnt : Pinot noir et Chardonnay.

“Le vin issu du cépage Barbera est à l'image de l'homme du Monferrato: robuste et fier. Apparemment rudes au premier abord, de par leur capacité commune à résister au mauvais sort, de réagir et rebondir, et leur incapacité à atténuer certaines aspérités de caractère au fil des accompagnements successifs. Il faut les connaitre à fond l'un et l'autre, pour pouvoir les apprécier pleinement. Alors l'amitié devient solide et impérissable.”
