A platform of the Italian Creativity that looks at the future

MVA was born as a catalog archive collected over 26 years of history in an Italian workshop in the creation of new trends, years of work in close contact with many designers, emerging, established, in vogue at the time, or still looking for a raise, but in any case between the biggest names in the fashion world, where we could see and grasp their creativity. In recent years we have seen the ideas take shape, first on paper, then on the work benches, and finally the most important runways of the world, but everything always started from an idea, from one memory, an image.

We believe the time has come to give an additional tool to the insights of all of the; the designers of today and those of tomorrow, and why the whole history of creativity, which we consider to be a heritage from which to draw ideas and inspiration, is finally collected and above recognized as a great Italian resource, to pass on to the future; thus the creation of MVA. This is a gallery of images, accessories and their work, as if it were a collection of studies and proposals of spring and winter designs of the last 30 years of fashion that have made the history and success of Italian creativity unanimously recognized throughout the world. An archive where these designs are collected and a piece of Italian history, tradition, processes, solutions, and realization of ideas that represent our wealth and our heritage, that should not be lost, but rather be remembered and gathered to pass on to the future by giving them the value that they deserve.

MVA was born from the desire to provide a wealth of history and knowledge to the fashion industry and is dedicated to all researchers, designers, and professionals in the world of fashion and design. We want to give the opportunity to all the "creators" to carry out their own work through a new way of doing research and finding new solutions to everything that goes through their creative mind.

To this end, thousands of products, born in this laboratory that have now become vintage, were photographed in detail, particularly in high resolution, digitized and cataloged and entered in a web platform (mainly reserved for insiders) and distributed by internet throughout the world. MVA still offers all the different search modes with both technical terminology to be employed in the sector and for more general purposes. Each object is as if it had a technical file, made in the form of photographs or frames, which contains all the techniques and information of construction and descriptive details that make it unique. The same technical information and descriptions are organized into a series of areas of research databases that constitutes the structure of the same web platform and that makes it intuitive and of immediate use. In doing so, the search fields refer to the keywords and the terminology used by professionals and students for easy navigation.

MVA is a web platform of samples that is both unique and innovative. It is made for the first time on these terms and with such a wealth of material from the archive we can already define history. However, it is both current and necessary to search for new trends while using the research and the collection of working techniques and solutions coming from the artisans traditional past, in order to remain unique and irreplaceable for the creations of today. The many samples and images highlight this technology of hand-made craftsmanship. Usability and vision of this tool will enable the visitor, designer, or student to analyze, study and reflect by seeing samples, constructions, and ideas to stimulate their creativity to make new developments and solutions inspired by the vintage product created and combined with modern technology and new production techniques. This site is proposed as a service to designers and students and will be a real laboratory for continuous creativity and creation and will continuously be updated with the addition of new samples and "new vintage".

This web-based platform is easily navigable through filters (search fields) showing types of accessories and work that is made available. It gives visitors a representation of several options targeted to their needs; the first study and research which includes the ability to touch and study more closely with the pattern you want, and also to have technical and architectural support.

MVA was presented in Florence at Vintage Selection at the Stazione Leopolda in the Alcatraz area, 23 to 27 January 2013 in conjunction with Pitti Filati.

To interpret our values and our vision, we commissioned Felice Limosani to make a site specific performance that was able to tell, in the form of metaphor, everything we wanted to convey. "Tears in Rain" is a spectacular and evocative project loosely inspired by Blade Runner and its atmospheric, visual and sound suggestions. It is an artistic transposition of one of the most famous science fiction films that entered the final monologue in the history of cinema, to distinguish the boundaries between humans and replicants. A symbolic narrative that reflects on what is real and what is not, what is human and what is not, and the importance of having memories to feed the future. A tribute to the creative abilities, manuals, and passionate man that can produce uniqueness and authenticity, as opposed to live performances: artificial copies, cold, calculated, devoid of feeling and innovation.
