Mark is a California winemaker, Elvezia is from Friuli in the far northeast of Italy.
They met in Sicily in 1997 when they were both consulting for a large winery near Palermo. It was instantly obvious that they worked well together, so when Mark proposed to visit Puglia and its old Primitivo vineyards, Elvezia immediately accepted. They were so strongly attracted by this region. They loved the light, the color of the sky, these extraordinary vineyards. They came for a short holiday, and never left. Puglia has become their home. The vision of new and ancient Primitivo vineyards disseminated for thousands of hectares is a lovely view for anybody, but you can imagine what it meant to a California winemaker. According to studies carried out by UC Davis, where Mark graduated in winemaking, Primitivo and California Zinfandel share the same DNA, they are genetically identical.
We work with the best vineyards and do everything possible to maintain the purity of their flavors. Tradition is vital in Puglia, and our winemaking is traditional, natural and respectful. We use the native yeast that grows on the grapes. Our fermentations are kept cool to preserve the flavors of the vineyards. Everything possible is done to preserve the flavors, not manufacture them.
We offer contemporary style with the respect for the territory. Our mission is to find interesting grapes in order to make authentic wine. Our pay off is Welcome to Puglia, beacause only here you can find these fantastic wines.

Mark è un winemaker ed arriva dalla California. Elvezia è una Wine Manager friulana. Si sono conosciuti in Sicilia nel 1997, lavoravano come consulenti per una cantina nel palermitano. Nel 1998 Mark propose ad Elvezia di visitare la Puglia per vedere i vecchi vigneti di Primitivo e lei ha subito accettato con entusiasmo. Secondo gli studi dell’Università di Davis in California dove Mark si è laureato in Winemaking, Primitivo e Zinfandel Californiano hanno lo stesso DNA, sono geneticamente identici.
Atterrarono a Bari nell’agosto del ’98, affittarono una Fiat Panda e raggiunsero l’area sotto Taranto denominata “il triangolo del Primitivo”: Torricella, Sava, Manduria. La distesa di vecchie vigne ad Alberello è una visione incantevole per chiunque, figuriamoci per un winemaker americano.
Sentirono subito un’attrazione fatale per questa regione. Doveva essere una breve vacanza e invece si sono trasferiti in Puglia e hanno lanciato la loro sfida: Produrre vini autoctoni con uno stile moderno.
